Well, it’s been a few minutes since I’ve talked about much here, but now it’s time to spend this year working on the purge. Let’s rewind back a few weeks to why this year is even starting.. Well, my good friend “toadster’ said this book was a good read “Die with Zero”, so I quickly went to audible downloaded it and started listening. I was around chapter 2 when I reached out to my brother and asked if he had heard about it.. (He said YES!) a few years prior he read it and it was shaped his Experience Quests. Wow!! I knew something was happening magical with my brother, but had no idea how fundamental of a shift this is. Fundamental is an understatement.
Well, at this same time I was cleaning up the bedroom when I saw a new book my wife had “Nobody wants your SH*t – the art of decluttering before you die”.. The title is dramatic, similar to the other book.. but there’s gotta to be something good in it … right? Well, after your start this book, you realize quickly that language is not for the faint of heart.. (too much cussing for me, but it is driving the point home pretty hard).
How interesting you would say that these two books are closely tied together, grounded in both Experiences and not a lot of physical “crap” to deal with. Invest in giving, donating, making the experiences you want to have happen while you can physically and mentally.
So..where do we go from here? Well, we started on 7/2/26 and we have 1 year goal of purging whatever we don’t need, whether that’s sell, give, donate, recycle. Decluttering book says start slow, make it a part of you routine, I like this part. Experience book is about setting the course forward on what you want, the experience list is started. (from a week long surf camp, to tropical destinations to the ends of the world)..
Now since it’s really 7/7 for this blog, what have we accomplished in the first week of this purge?
1) First priority was the bedroom – started slow, 10 bags of clothes off to donation already.
2) second priority was to work on the front room, that is still deep in progress.. π
3) I have found a # of items w/ costco labels still on it. from tents, to clothes, etc.. I’,m sure we all do.. but guess what.. those are back at costco now and score some cash to buy supplies (not more reverse purge).. π
That is all for now.. more in the next post..
